The term New Face refers to a model who is only at the beginning of their career and is not yet known in the industry. A new face is therefore nothing other than a newcomer - a new face. The term is not only common in the modeling industry, but is also used in the film and television sector.
A New Face stands for freshness and unspent. The model is not yet associated with any designer, brand or product. An actor is still free from the image of past roles. This is why agencies, production companies and clients are constantly on the lookout for a new face.
Fashion designers are also constantly on the lookout for new faces. They bring a breath of fresh air onto the catwalks and into the fashion magazines of this world. Time and again, fashion designers are inspired by a special new face. A newcomer quickly becomes the muse of a star designer and their career really takes off. However, such a lightning career is an absolute exception.
The start of a modeling career is the same for all New Faces: either the newcomer is discovered by an agent or they apply to an agency themselves. Once this is done, the following points usually await:
Getting to know each other: Model and agency first meet to exchange information and to get a better picture of the other person. Ideally, there is interest on both sides.
Test shoots: As part of getting to know each other, the first Polaroid photos of the new face are usually taken. The agency also organizes the first appointments for test shoots.
First experiences: As part of the organized test shoots, the New Face gains initial experience and learns how to move in front of the camera and get to know the processes in the industry.
In the industry, models who see themselves as part of the team, present themselves as such and are a pleasure to work with are particularly popular.

A New Face is always under observation in this respect. A good personality is just as important for success in the modeling industry as good measurements and a perfect appearance. On the other hand, models who separate themselves from the rest of the team on set and are very aloof are not welcome.
