The sedcard is one of a model's most important work tools. It provides the all-important first impression and serves as a meaningful business card. In addition to representative photos, it contains all the important information about the model. The sed card is also usually used when applying to an agency. In English-speaking countries it is also known as a "comp card", in German-speaking countries the term "Modelmappe" is often used as a synonym.
The sedcard doesn't just consist of the best photos from the model's career to date. The sedcard also contains important information about the model and all relevant data for making contact.
A sedcard is structured as follows:
Front: The dominant factor is a high-quality portrait photo. This is accompanied by your first and last name and (if available and necessary) the name of your agency.
Back: Depending on the layout, space for two or three additional small-format photos. There is also the most important information about you (height, weight, shoe size, proportions, hair color and eye color). If you are applying directly to a client, the contact details of your agency should also be included. If it is an agency application, you must provide your own contact details.
A sedcard is usually designed in A4 or A5 format. The handy dimensions of a model sedcard make it easier to get an overview.

A sedcard should provide as complete an overview as possible of a model's portfolio. It is therefore important to choose the right photos. A sedcard must therefore contain the following images:
Portrait: The front of the sed card usually contains a portrait photo in color. The make-up used is discreet in order to show as much of the face as possible.
Full-body photo: Serves to give the client an idea of the model's posing ability.
Black and white photo: Has been one of the most popular types of photo for ages and is always requested by clients.
Underwear photos: A large market that offers lucrative commissions.
The focus of the sedcard photos is always the model herself and never the outfits worn. They should therefore be chosen as discreetly as possible and kept in the background. Many male models also add a photo with a naked upper body to their sedcard.
While experienced and successful models have a large pool of photos to fall back on, newcomers generally do not. They therefore have to work with photographers and agencies if they want to create their model portfolio.
Yes, many platforms enable the creation of digital sedcards. Artists can present their sedcards online, which makes it easier for potential clients to access them.
