The production "Temporary Highs" is a graduation film from the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. A German short film set in Ibiza that uses specially produced hip-hop and R&B songs to tell a non-linear story about forced cooperation between ex-lovers.
The first half of the film follows the perspective of rapper André in Düsseldorf, which is emphasized by the focus on hip-hop in the soundtrack. The second half of the film focuses on the isolated perspective of Zari in Ibiza, which is accompanied by an RnB soundtrack. The structure of the film is similar to that of longer music videos. The story is told non-linearly and contains flashbacks, which are accompanied by songs composed especially for the film and written from the protagonists' perspectives.
Contact: Nicodemus
André is a talented but insecure young man who has spent his whole life trying to find success with his music. Despite his suppressed need to produce music other than what the label wants to hear from him, he would consider it a betrayal to betray the only label that gave him a chance and thus his success. He loves his girlfriend Zari dearly, but often feels inferior to her professionally, which he tries to compensate for in his private life.
For the role of André, we are looking for a vocally experienced actor in the field of hip-hop/RnB from the NRW area. Attached is an excerpt of the 6th scene for a self-tape. If possible, we would also ask for an audio sample. Possible inspirations are: 6lack, Childish Gambino, Tyler The Creator, etc.
